This post is so late. To think I was supposed to have a post every end of the month. Thanks D for the reminder.
If PR is 骗人, then HR must be 害人! The HR lady that came over to the Singapore office seemed nice enough. She chatted with us and seemed to genuinely want to understand things. She also did this extensive personality profile exercise with the team so we can better "work together". 1 week after she went back, my boss let slip about something which the HR lady had obviously told her. So much for "in confidence". Thankfully, it wasn't anything scandalous or serious, but still, 害人!
ERM has left in a sudden and very unexpected manner. During the Monday morning meeting, it was simply explained as having come to a "mutual agreement that this arrangement might not have been the best fit". I call bullshit. There were zero indication that ERM had any intention to leave. Just one week before, she had still been giving us instructions on some of her existing initiatives. It's a shame since she is one of the consultants that we, at the very least, do not hate, and is one of the more hardworking ones. I guess we'll never know what really happened, but still feel that it's quite a shame. Rumour has it that the boss plans to hire someone else.
Work wise, it's busy as always. We never seem to make money, but for some reason are working harder and harder. Strange how we are the ones who will complain about our job but somehow never seem to have it in us to really quit and look for pastures new.
LAB, AS, and me had planned to go for a night cycling expedition last weekend but due to a client crisis, had to spend our weekend in the office instead. This is nothing new for me, since I am used to having client crises disrupt my whole weekends. But still... WTF!
Anyway, LT, LAB, and AS decided to set up a Paktor profile for me one afternoon. I thought they were joking until they really did it, and used my real photo to boot! They were having fun swiping and starting conversations with girls and I just looked on in disbelief. Thankfully, after they had their fun, they deleted the account that evening. Apparently, Tinder requires a Facebook account, but you can just set up a Paktor account without it. That is too dangerous.
AS challenged me to fast for a whole day with her last week. Ever competitive, I agreed. Not eating food for the whole day was still somehow manageable, but not drinking a single drop of liquid was terrible! When the time came to break fast, I gulped down half a carton of orange juice. No wonder most Muslims stay so slim despite their love for coconut oil, and all the other oils they use.
I went for a buffet dinner with MC, LT, LAB, and AS recently. It was a very overdue promotion dinner which I owed them. Of course, them being girls meant that none of them could really eat my money's worth. In the end, the only one left gorging the food was me. The food quality standard at Buffet Town is now horrible anyway. After the buffet, MC, LAB, AS, and me went back to the office and used the office projector to screen Ip Man 3! Making full use of office resources.
I've also recently changed to a new phone: Samsung Galaxy S7. So far, it's been an excellent phone with decent battery life and performance. I don't really want to buy a protector for it though. Here's hoping I never ever drop it.
We celebrated C's birthday some weeks back, and it was a timely reminder that we are all 27, nearing the end of our twenties. I sure hope that we will have to something to show before we enter our thirties.
I caught up with my University mates last week. Everyone seems to be doing well, baring the occasional frustration at work, some relationship issues, the routine holiday trips, and some more juicy updates. Even at our age, there is still no lack of drama. We also agreed that that the job market currently is rather bad, and we might want to hold off on jumping ship at the moment. Although with that said, that doesn't mean I can't try --- my cover letter is almost ready. Time to send
