Chronicle 105 - Rounding up 2017

Haven't updated for quite some time, so thought I would end off 2017 with one. There have been too too many developments which might test even my recollection of them.

Picking up from July were I left off, I met P for dinner to catch up. This wasn’t the first time so it really wasn’t a big deal. We were having dinner at Bugis and then proceeded to get ice-cream and have a walk around the mall. When I recounted it to others, they insisted it was a date? What am I missing?

LAB broke up with her boyfriend of many years and understandably was very upset. She called me in the middle of the night and insisted I tell her a joke. On the spot, I just recounted one which I heard some time ago. Not the most appropriate joke but at least it worked! Afterwards, through a series of emotional blackmail, LAB and AS forced me to download this Coffee Meets Bagel dating app. I had to oblige but when I left their company, swiftly deactivated it.

At the workplace, there has been various developments as well. Both FA and JA has resigned, GK has been promoted to Director, we hired a new Associate, FB, and NAN has been brought over to advisory. Changes are commonplace, but the pace doesn't seem to be slowing down and understandably, there has been quite a number of issues surrounding these changes. I also need to be more resistant to girls crying - I'm not paid high enough to handle these!

I also celebrated my fourth year anniversary at Tulchan with a lunch treat from the boss. She told me that she is pretty satisfied with my progress and promised me a bonus this financial year. She however, made a remark that one aspect I could improve on was essentially to "buy better clothes". This is infuriating! Anyway, I have since enlisted LAB's help to go shop for some clothes.

During the Christmas season, I met up with various group of friends to do our annual Christmas gift exchanges. Year by year, I'm glad that we could keep this tradition alive amid our busy schedules. Thankfully, I did not have to be activated this Christmas for work.

I recently recovered from a very nasty cough which plagued me for weeks and medication seem to have little effect. I wonder what happened. It was at times so bad, that the coughing would make it impossible to fall asleep at night.

Fascination is like a drug and if you are not careful can consume you. In 2017, I have accidentally fallen into such a trap and is trying to summon more discipline to control myself.
