Chronicle XV - Last Day At Maybank

Today's my last day of work and a paradox of bitter-sweet feelings is welling up inside me. How times flies, I still remember the 1st day I stepped through the doors of Maybank. My job scope has changed a number of times since then. While I am relieved to be finally free of my duties, the feeling of being unwilling to part with my colleagues somewhat lingers. After all, a considerable amount of time has been spent with them. Not to mention the many colleagues that left before me as well as the many significant things that happened during my stay at Maybank.

The reason that put a stop to my year long run at Maybank was that my enlistment notice has arrived - 7th October 2009 was the date. Speaking of enlistment, Joel has been enlisted a few weeks back and it seems he isn't taking it very well. Wish him the best of luck!

Some fresh blood has joined Maybank recently; 2 polytechnic intern and 3 temp staff. "Away with the old and come with the new." I've done my part in trying to impart my knowledge to one of the temp staff. I'm gonna have to trust that future generations are able to keep the "torch" burning.

Initially, I was planning with a buddy of mine at Maybank to share the cost for a KFC Mega Meal for our farwell feast. However, our boss Stella actually went out of her way to buy some finger food for us to distribute and refused to allow us to pay her back. Another supervisor of mine also treated us to a farewell dinner today. Won't be forgetting these favours anytime soon. 一日为师, 终生为母。

Thinking back, my experience at Maybank sure is a memorable experience. My parents themselves have tried unsuccessfully to "tame" me which was the reason I quit school and came to Maybank. Initially, I only wished for my parents and relatives to be off my back and for time to pass. Little did I expect that working at Maybank would shape my character gradually. 生我者父母, 知我者老板也!
