Chronicle 54 - Getting Old With the New Year

2012 was the first year of civilian life after national service. My University course started in 2012. I started private tutoring in 2012. I forged several new friendships in 2012. I started working in a child-care in 2012. IPPT Gold was regained in 2012. Although I would very much like to forget, I was also court-martialed and fined for the very first time in 2012. And I met someone in 2012. Someone I kinda admire, but it's sorta different from "that time" (C & F, you know what I mean). I'll conclude that it's someone special... just special.

So I guess while 2012 wasn't exactly a spectacular year for me, it wasn't all that bad either. So much for the 2012 Doomsday prophecy. As cliche as it may be, let's hope 2013 has something or somethings better in store for me

This post is a day late. Not that it's an excuse, but I was in JB with F and C yesterday. Had a massage and indulged in seafood. Love the chilli crab! When we reached Singapore, we welcomed the New Year at the bowling alley in Kallang Leisure Park. Anyway, my parents and sisters went for a week long trip to Japan. If not for the responsibility of having to feed and clean up after the dog, it would really be a taste of 自由人生. Having the car to yourself feels wonderful - too bad my parents left me with just less than a quarter tank of petrol.

About Christmas, there was this gift-exchange activity my University mates and I played. It was difficult to say the least. Well, it was rather fun while it lasted. Anyway, I received a pouch from this weird (yeah, I mean really weird) guy. He was actually boasting of his "dedication" to getting a practical gift, and remarked that we should wish for him to draw our names next year. Felt the urge to laugh and punch him at the same time. Speaking of which, I duelled this same guy in badminton sometime back and "punished" him.

Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on that poor guy. After all, he did recommend me to his mentor, which was how I got the job at the student care. It's only a few weeks and it seems there have been some discontent with my work already. Come the New Year and the start of school, perhaps I'll have to work harder to earn some favours.

[Quotes]
Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable. - Sydney J. Harris
