Anyway, during the 2 weeks of holiday, I caught up on plenty of TV series, and DOTA. I also took the time to meet a couple of financial advisors to seek some advice on my insurance needs and on starting an investment portfolio. I must say its quite fun going "advisor shopping" and listening to see whether their advice is consistent. I have yet to make a decision but I do want to by the end of the month. I just need time to access these people.
My sister has come back from Korea and as expected, she doesn't miss Singapore at all. I'm still trying to figure out how she went from "I just don't understand those crazy K-pop fans at all", to becoming a hardcore fan herself. Anyway, she's now learning the Japanese language on top of the Korean language. She sure is making full use of her time as a University student. I remember I slacked most of my life away while in University.
Anyway, the big boss and me went out for coffee and lunch sometime back. Basically, it was to do a review as well as some chit-chat. Anyway, I have been promoted with an increase in both pay and leave allowance. Not sure how I feel about that though. LT is also back from London and it seems she enjoyed herself quite a bit, not withstanding the work part. With my promotion, the dynamics in the office is sure to change as certain duties and responsibility will have to be shifted around, and I, will have to pick up on new things that might prove a bit daunting. The seating arrangement has also been shuffled and it is going to be a challenge to maintain the same level of closeness I have with the analysts.
In chronicle 85, I talked about how MC left the company but as it turns out, the world is a small one. My superiors found out about her appointment at a rival firm and my big boss especially, can't seem to get over it. I guess being a small and close-knitted office has its benefits as well as drawbacks. Moving on is easily misconstrued as betrayal.
After a series of experiments, I have come to the conclusion that my dog is now half-blind. He used to be alert and active especially when you have food in hand. Nowadays however, he spends most of his time lying down in certain corner. The other day, I was throwing his treats at him expecting him to scurry after them like he usually would. To my surprise, he stayed motionless throughout. I had to put the treat within a metre of him before he could see it. One night, I could not find him anywhere within the house, and after some time,I found him hiding under some stuff on the balcony. I suspect that with his impaired vision and the darkness of the night, he was to scared to move from his position and so was stuck there.
As usual, I met my University friends during CNY and gambled quite a bit. I was looking at everyone the other day and all of them reminded me that I am no longer young! I have known them for about 4 years! Of course, there is a certain sense of satisfaction that this group have managed to keep together years after graduation, but the thought that everyone has changed somewhat is scary.
C is now in Japan after his company posted him there for some training; think he'll be there for close to a month maybe? Living at the base of Mt Fuji, that must be nice.
Recently, I have been spending a lot of time on this mobile game, Final Fantasy Record Keeper. I must say there is plenty of nostalgia involved considering I was a fan of the Final Fantasy series for more than a decade. This might just be one of the most successful mobile game to compel my attention yet.
